Acropolis, Athens
12 pages printed booklet hand-cut
11 x 8.5 in | 28 x 21 cm open
5.5 x 8.5 in | 14 x 21 cm close
Surprise 68 is dedicated to the Acropolis in Athens. The cover presents the archeological site viewed from the new Acropolis Museum conceived by Bernard Tschumi Architects, which opened in 2009.
The first spread presents the Parthenon, under renovation, filled with tourists from all over the world.
Follows a view of the city of Athens and the porch of the Maidens located on the south part of the Erechtheion or Temple of Athena.
After a closeup of more renovation and antic columns, we discover tourists using the site as a background for the photographs they will most likely share on social media.
On the back is a view of the Acropolis from Monastiraki Square.
A special thank you to Eirini Linardaki, an artist who introduced me to Greece and is at the origin of this trip.
